"Our two kids started playing their instrument at Opus 1 several years ago. They love it, and we are happy they enjoy making music. The teachers are fantastic. There are several recitals every year, which I love attending — it's a real treat!"

Good to know
Common questions, answered
How much do music lessons cost?
A trial lesson is $25 for 30 minutes (for children under 8), $35 for 45 minutes, or $45 for 60 minutes. Monthly membership for one weekly private lesson ranges from $265 to $595 depending on lesson length and teacher level (Standard, Senior, or Master). Tuition is the same flat amount each month, with no annual contract.
What ages do you teach?
All ages. Private lessons start at age 5 for most instruments (age 6–7 for a few), and younger children begin in Music for Young Children, our group program starting at age 3. We also teach teens and adults of every level, from complete beginners to returning players.
Do I have to sign an annual contract?
No. Tuition is paid monthly, giving you the flexibility to switch instruments or withdraw at any time. There are no yearly or semester commitments.
What if we need to reschedule a lesson?
Not a problem. You can reschedule private lessons online with your teacher or a substitute, and we're open all year long, closing only for major national holidays.
Do you offer online lessons?
Yes — lessons are available in person at our three Bay Area campuses or online, and you can combine the two. Lessons are taught in English, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Russian.
Where are your studios located?
We teach at our Palo Alto campus (3401 El Camino Real), Mountain View Grant campus (1350 Grant Road #5), and Mountain View Moffett campus (284 Moffett Blvd) — all with on-site parking and free Wi-Fi while you wait.
Ready to get started?
Book a private trial lesson and experience our teaching firsthand. A trial is a great way to test-drive a lesson without a long-term commitment, and make sure there's a perfect fit between the student and the teacher.
